Game Observations: Track Your Passes

Keep your players engaged during the game by having the substitutes on the your bench track both Completed Passes and Casper Passes (passes directly played to a defender) until it is there time to sub in. Watch as their attention turns from random non-game related sideline talk to actually watching and understanding what is taking place on the pitch.  Use the data in-game to discuss with your team if they are keeping possession of the ball.  If they aren’t, is it because of too many Casper Passes causing turnovers?  Track across multiple games and see if your metric improve.  Click to download for free below!!

Soccer Vocabulary: Creating a Shared Understanding

A common soccer vocabulary across a club is important for concepts and cues to be learned and shared from the academy to the first team.  Creating a common understanding of terminology that is used consistently by all coaches allows players to more quickly understand what their coach is trying to communicate.  The players don’t have to “learn a new language” with each new coach in the club.  The less the player has to think about what the terms mean, the more quickly they can work on implementing the concept being taught.

Fletcher Soccer Academy has created two Quizlet flashcard sets for players to familiarize themselves with common technical and tactical soccer terms.  The Quizlet sets are also able to be set to different Study Modes like Matching, Test and more.

Take a look and put your knowledge of soccer vocabulary to the test!!
